Annex I species: Golden Plover,
Bar-tailed Godwit, Sandwich Tern, Kingfisher.
Seasonal Interest:
Winter: Brent Goose, Shelduck, Wigeon, Teal, Pintail, Golden
Plover, Grey Plover, Lapwing, Knot, Sanderling, Black-tailed Godwit, Bar-tailed Godwit,
Curlew, Redshank, Greenshank, Turnstone, possible Slavonian Grebe.
It also has one or two of the expanding Little Egret population.
Summer: Shelduck, Mallard, Ringed Plover.
Spring/Autumn: Whimbrel, Sandwich Tern, Little Tern, occasional
Green Sandpiper.

The old Race Course area and the Mayne River used to be good for wintering Short-eared Owl
and
Green Sandpiper. Merlin and Buzzard also occur.
This area is now scheduled for development and features prominently in the
Flood Tribunal.

The DART (01-8366222) to Sutton on the Howth line for the eastern end of the estuary.
To Portmarnock, on the Malahide spur, for the north side of the estuary.
